Introduction
Our Appointed Person course is designed to ensure that designated persons can carry out basic emergency first aid in the workplace in accordance with the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 and 1997 Guidelines.
Course Objectives
To provide the student with enough practical skill to deal with the immediate response needed in an emergency situation. To deal with resuscitation, control of bleeding, and unconsciousness until a qualified First Aid At Work person or other qualified help arrives.
This one day course allows inclusion of particular requirements specific to each client and/or workplace.
Course Contents
- Minimum of 2.5 hours dealing with resuscitation.
- Airway / breathing / circulation.
- Practical resuscitation on a mannequin.
- Casualty handling.
- Recovery position.
- Minimum of 1.5 hours dealing with wounds and bleeding.
- Types of wounds.
- Control of bleeding.
- Unconsciousness.
- Contents of the first aid box.
- Other specific topics tailored to company needs.
There is no examination for this course, but the student will receive a certificate of attendance.
